Campbell University Rallies from 12 Strokes Down to Win the 2016 ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

Back to Back Champs, 2015-2016: The Fighting Camels become the first team to repeat in ODU/OBX Intercollegiate history.

The Seventh Annual ODU/OBX Intercollegiate golf tournament completed three days of competition at Kilmarlic Golf Club on October 25th. In a dramatic finish, with the team scores tied at -6, Campbell’s Ray Kravixien holed an incredible 18-foot putt to birdie the 18th hole and give Campbell the team title.

All five Campbell golfers birdied the final hole to lift the Camels to their one-stroke win over host Old Dominion.

Campbell (288-282-275—845) entered the final day 12 strokes behind 36 hole leader Ball State, but posted a 9-under-par 275 in round three to catch, and eventually surpass the leaders. Old Dominion (282-283-281—846) finished second and Akron (279-282-287—848) rounded out the top three in the 18-school event.

David Langley of ODU (-9) earned the individual title after firing a four-under 67 in round three. The Monarch shot rounds of 70-67-67=204 to finish two shots clear of UNC Wilmington’s Patrick Cover (-7) and three shots ahead of Akron’s J.B. Williams (-6).

Craig Hornberger, the 2015 ODU/OBX individual champ, tied for eighth overall at 1-under 212 (69-74-69).
